The Crime Prevention Manager reports to the Director of Protective Services (Support) and is responsible for conceiving, coordinating, and executing a coherent crime prevention program. Plays a vital role in building a unified, capable, and best-in-class protective services program that safeguards Sutter Health's people, property, assets, and interests. Contributes to compliance with relevant federal and state regulations as well as organizational policies and procedures.
Is responsible for developing and implementing risk-based and incident-based crime prevention strategies that measurably reduce the incidence of crime with a particular focus on developing a loss prevention program that measures and reduces system-wide material loss. Tests and evaluates security and crime prevention measures to determine effectiveness and to identify gaps and seams. Incidences of crime and loss, will be measured, reported, analyzed, and used as a basis for the manager's activities.
Spearheads innovative employee engagement and training programs that foster personal and collective awareness, watchfulness, and reporting across the organization. Using survey data and other means, monitors, analyzes and is accountable for improving employees' perceptions of safety. Determines priorities, and devises and implements employee engagement and awareness strategies and campaigns. These include system-wide strategies such as creating/distributing collateral materials (pamphlets, fliers, posters, etc) as well as targeted, local strategies such as serving as a guest speaker at selected workgroup meetings across the Sutter system.
The Crime Prevention Manager serves as a key member of both the Risk Assessment and Incident Analysis teams and performs root cause analyses for select incidents. In conjunction with other key members of the Protective Services team, works from risk analyses, incident reports, investigations, root-cause analyses, survey data, and site visits to thoroughly understand the operating environment and to identify high payoff opportunities for both locally tailored and system-wide crime prevention strategies. Makes recommendations regarding the allocation of the organization's resources and helps craft policies, procedures, and programs that deter, detect, and/or prevent crime, and otherwise mitigate risks.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, criminal justice, political science, or closely related field is desired.
Licensure and Certifications
Valid Driver License is required. Graduate of accredited law enforcement training academy is required. Extensive interview & interrogation experience in a corporate or law enforcement investigative context is required.
10+ years of law enforcement or corporate security experience, including at least five years of crime prevention experience Experience designing and implementing effective crime prevention programs Experience analyzing complex environments, identifying risks, recognizing gaps, directing data collection, processing data, maturing data to information, and correlating information into knowledge to facilitate effective decision-making. Includes making compelling presentations, info-graphics, and decision-support tools Experience managing security systems projects – experience with RFID technology a plus Experience developing and presenting educational and training materials on a variety of crime prevention topics for a variety of audiences Experience developing viable and compelling plans that result in optimal allocation of limited resources, to include continuous follow-through to measure and improve ROI Broad-based management experience with demonstrated success managing multiple projects, to include managing a project portfolio (multiple projects or programs) with diverse and dispersed team members Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple/diverse functional areas, work toward consensus, and in the absence of consensus collegially influence others to achieve outcomes that are in the organization’s best interests Experience in healthcare with knowledge of existing and emerging risk factors and mitigating strategies
