This position is responsible for the design, development, administration and implementation of corporate physical security programs to provide a secure environment for people, buildings and assets, through the implementation of, Corporate Security Standards and Procedures and to ensure compliance with laws and regulatory standards. Specifically: Guard Services, Electronic Security Systems, Physical Security Countermeasures and Personnel Security. Primary focus on Wisconsin Public Service (WPS), Minnesota Energy Resources Corporation (MERC) and Michigan Gas Utilities Corporation (MGU).
Provide overall physical security support and direction for WPS, MERC and MGU.
Participant in the development, implementation and administration of physical security programs associated with people, buildings and company assets. Such programs include: physical security assessments across WEC Energy Group asset categories (e.g. coal-fired generating stations, gas-fired generating stations, hydroelectric, wind, natural gas infrastructure, substations, offices, etc.), event security and executive protection, investigations and active shooter/workplace violence.
Manage contracted security services to include the development/implementation of standards and procedures at all sites.
Independently scopes and manages physical security capital projects. Gathers requirements, collaborates with business units to determine priorities, identifies appropriate solutions, obtains necessary approvals, ensures funding, manages contractors.
Participates in construction and renovation projects in partnership with Operations, Real Estate and Facility Management, and oversee all aspects of physical security related to these projects.
Provide security consulting services to establish procedure and install systems that reduce regulatory risk, risk to employees, and the risk of loss or damage to company property.
Has an in-depth understanding of security technology and works closely with vendors and Information Technology (IT) in the design, development, installation and maintenance of various technologies that support the security program.
Conduct investigations, maintains records, writes or reviews security-related documents, such as incident reports involving losses, or violations of regulations, policies and procedures.
Assist in the development and maintenance of employee awareness of the WEC Energy Group Corporate Security Policies and assure that employees understand their role in providing secure facilities.
Cultivate and maintain internal relationships to increase security awareness, to ensure that threats are communicated in a timely manner and to accelerate decision-making pertaining to security initiatives. Understand how to contact, communicate with and deploy local, regional and national law enforcement.
•Associates degree in related field required. •Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science, Security Management, Computer Science or Business Administration from an accredited college or university preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in a physical security role required.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in physical security project management (including security technology), security system design and installation, documentation and reporting.
