The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include:
Work with staff to create a strategic plan that connects outcomes to results and operational budget.
Lead a team that provides a safe and secure environment for all clients, customers, patrons, and employees of the county.
Consult and work with team members from other internal organizations, including county administration and county board.
Develop a deep understanding of operational risks and drive response processes to minimize these risks through a continuous cycle of preparedness, response, recovery, and improvement.
Develop team members and foster professional growth to consistently meet performance standards and increase team knowledge, skills, diversity and engagement.
Oversee the work of the security leadership team and security staff, specifically in the capacity of mentor and coach.
Participate in project teams of others, including management review and policy groups.
Attend meetings as a representative of Facility Services.
Ensure compliance with federal/state/local agencies regulations and statutes.
Develop and implement policies and programs covering all facets of County security.
Assist in stabilizing compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and be knowledgeable of current trends in the security industry.
Other duties that may be assigned in support of security.
Best Qualified Candidates will have:
Bachelor's degree or higher in business administration or other field appropriate to the position and five or more years of experience in the planning and administration of organizational operations or programs. Note: Experience can be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
A certified protection professional (CPP) designation or other security professional designations is desirable.
Supervising a team to include oversight of workforce training and development, onboarding, professional development and growth as well as change management.
Build strategic vision and drive organizational change with all levels in the division.
Work to ensure continuous quality improvement in all department areas.
Lead a team that is simultaneously delivering security services and planning, coordinating, and implementing security programs.
Enforce security regulations.
Work effectively in teams.
Work with highly confidential information.
Effectively communicate with and influence senior leadership.
Prepare and deliver communication within the department to promote positive employee relations; create regular reports and measurable matrix demonstrating progress, improvement and advancement.
Develop and manage an operating budget and identify new budget needs.
Lead staff engagement sessions.
Proven ability to influence key business partners without authority.
Strong inter-personal and networking skills.
Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Strong self-motivator able to execute tasks with little or no guidance.
