The Datacenter Physical Security team (DCPS), sits within MCIO and among other duties is responsible for the physical security of all critical infrastructure facilities worldwide. We manage strategic and tactical activities to ensure this is achieved in a very fast paced, high tech environment, working with multiple stakeholders and priorities.
DCPS is looking for a motivated individual to manage critical infrastructure technology systems involving physical security systems programming, deployment, and ongoing system health monitoring, reporting, and maintenance of our worldwide critical infrastructure portfolio. This position is responsible for working directly with numerous internal and external teams, including design teams, delivery teams, operations teams, and numerous third party security vendors and suppliers.
The Security System Manager position reports to the Datacenter Physical Security Director of Technical Security and must be an experienced team player, possess strong communication and collaboration skills, and have the ability to effectively manage a demanding workload in the execution of multiple concurrent projects across geographic and organizational boundaries.
Manage physical security technologies and systems at Microsoft Datacenters. Includes physical access control, video surveillance, radio over internet protocol, key management, and entry systems.
Assists in deployment of technologies, ensures programming standards are adhered to as well as maintenance/repair supervision working with vendor support teams on system issues.
Works with Security Technology Manager and others on projects / programs as needed to support business priorities.
Collect and maintain system information on the health of current security systems and report performance trends. Identify system issues or failures and coordinate with Microsoft site personnel to drive and correct failures by collaborating with other internal and external service providers in weekly / biweekly meetings.
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for datacenter physical security technologies, supporting high visibility needs of the business in a variety of special projects. These unique projects often involve expedited deliverables, operational agility, and require top quality deliverables covering both the consulting and operations functions.
Contribute new content and expertise to the continuing evolution of existing physical security processes and procedures that produces valid trustworthy results, supports the goals of the business, and removes as many subjective elements as possible.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY - Education/Experience:
7+ years of experience successfully managing security programs in a corporate, law enforcement or government operations program role.
Lenel Certified Professional in Access Control and Digital Video.
Ability to travel in both planned and unplanned scenarios.
Experience with datacenters or other critical infrastructure facilities preferred.
Industry security certification such as PSP highly desirable.
BS or BA in security or related discipline, or equivalent experience preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required for preparing clear, concise and grammatically correct materials and communicating information effectively to others.
Expert project management and time management skills.
Action oriented with a passion for getting things done quickly, efficiently, and properly.
Strong cross-group collaboration and relationship management skills including creating, directing, participating, supporting, and/or coordinating virtual teams to achieve deliverables.
Comprehensive understanding of the physical security discipline, focusing on systems and operational usage.
Ability to develop, and maintain security related processes, procedures, program baselines, training, and improvement plans.
Ability to document and improve work processes in order to make workflow more efficient and productive.
Ability to contribute to other pillars of the Datacenter Physical Security program including consulting, operations, and program support by active collaboration, feedback, and support.
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance while being a team player able to effectively manage a demanding workload across geographic and organizational boundaries.
Experience with third-party contracts and statements of work related to physical security.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Screen background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
US Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet US Government security requirements.
US Government Security Clearance: Candidates must have an active US Government TS security clearance and be willing to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph), or have an active TS/SCI (with polygraph). This role will require candidates to maintain the TS/SCI (with polygraph) clearance.
