VHS – Top Guard Regional Hospitals Security Operations Manager
Reports to the System Security Director. Responsible for Management of the physical and operational security program at all VHS Regional Hospitals and each hospital’s campus. Assists in the development of the system Master Security Plan to ensure hospital-to-hospital alignment with regard to Standard Operating Procedures and Security Policy content. Oversees each regional hospital’s assigned Security Supervisor and the security staff at those locations. Responsible for management of the staffing schedule, and ensures that all shifts are covered with an adequate compliment of security officers. Ensures that all security supervisors and officers have completed and will maintain security and hospital related educational and training competencies. Coordinates routine and special security services functions with all hospital administrative /leadership teams, department heads, medical staff, and others in accordance with Valley Health’s Mission, Vision, & Values, Policies and Procedures.
The Operations Manager will, when delegated by the System Security Director, serve as a member of each hospital’s Environment of Care Safety Committee and as a member of each hospital’s Emergency Management Committee. The Operations Manager may also be a contributing member to other workgroups and committees as required.
The Operations Manger will assist and the support the System Security Director with the development or maintenance of an existing relationship with all Local Jurisdiction Law Enforcement Agencies in an effort to promote and sustain proactive operational expectations, communications, and pre-planned situational responses where Local Law Enforcement assistance or interventions are required on our hospital campuses.
EDUCATION: Minimum - Bachelor of Arts degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
EXPERIENCE: Security and safety management experience in the healthcare sector, 7-plus years of experience preferred, 3+ years experience required. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of healthcare and acute care hospital and behavioral healthcare hospital security environments including state and federal laws and codes pertaining to security and safety compliance. Experience managing security investigations, audits and other forms of analysis. Should have experience administering access control, key control, CCTV and IP-Addressable Camera systems including database management and systems integration of those technologies and systems.
LICENSE/CERT/REG: Valid driver’s license. IAHSS Advanced and or Supervisor Certifications required (may be completed in the first 6-months of employment). CHPA (Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator) preferred, HEM (healthcare environmental manager) preferred.
SKILLS: Basic computer skills to include a strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, and the ability to create and manage operational, investigational and risk assessment related reports. Will be responsible for assisting in the month-to-month oversight and management of hospital security budget. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must.
