The Security Manager will lead a team of Security Specialists in our Bethlehem facility to insure the safety of our employees, vendors and visitors, the security of our facility and to consistently test and improve our policies and procedures for safety, security and emergency response.
Actively manages, coaches, develops and rewards team members. Creates and communicates proactive employee development strategies to improve performance and skills. Manages the performance review process for all team members, and coaches on performance issues as needed.
Assists in the development of strategic goals and plans based on company strategy. Assists in creating policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. In conjunction with Corporate Security leadership, participates in the development of security programs to include documentation, training materials, and metrics tracking. Creates training materials as needed.
Coordinate and liaison Life Safety responsibilities, including development of Emergency Response Guides, tracking of drills and safety team members and completion of after action reports, for all locations across the enterprise. Maintain training of security team members in areas of first aid, CPR, AED and rescue skills.
Provides a courteous, professional, respectful and pleasant interaction with each associate and visitor and presents a good image of Guardian and Corporate Security. Provides superior customer service while preserving order, safety, and enforcing company regulations and policies/standards pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises. Creates, communicates and maintains Guardian access control program for all facilities. Ensures team members are assisting visitors, temps, contractors, consultants and any outside vendors and verifying right to access in an efficient manner to expedite admittance to the facility. Ensures cameras and card readers are in working order. Monitors and controls entrances and exits, prevents unapproved or unlawful entry, and monitors remote entrances and other areas of the facilities. Checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked ingress and egress, access control or video surveillance problems, and unauthorized persons. Checks for irregularities to protection devices, access control, video equipment.
Responds to emergencies in an orderly manner and ensures that staff has been appropriately trained and are following all standard operating procedures (SOPs). Documents all incidents in a manner that ensures all facts are accurately reported and can be effectively used in connection with any necessary legal action that may be required. Acts as a first responder in security emergencies, making “on the spot” determinations of how to respond and determining when an escalated response / potential use of force is required to protect employees. Interacts with law enforcement and other emergency responders in a highly effective manner. Communicates in a manner that is open, honest and responsive in all situations to the extent authorized.
Performs investigations of alleged misconduct, involving analysis of facts to help determine the direction of the investigation, making determinations of credibility based on the facts and witness interviews, and recommending findings and conclusions. Works closely with HR on terminations within the company. Constantly reviews security measures to assure all Guardian employees and buildings are protected against intrusion and workplace violence. Investigates personal property loss or loss of Guardian property. Prepares logs and reports in accordance with departmental requirements and procedures.
Performs site visits to new and existing locations to conduct security assessments and determine control requirements and improvements if necessary.
Performs threat / risk assessments involving executive travel and accompanying executives to ensure appropriate security measures are in place. Escalates security issues / concerns to the Director, Corporate Security.
Displays a technical and functional competence and subject matter expertise in technical security applications, i.e. access control, video surveillance, criminal / ethical investigations.
This position reports to the Director, Corporate Security who reports to the Vice President, Corporate Security.
Functional Skills & Competencies
Experience leading and developing a team of security professionals.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency using PowerPoint to create presentations for senior leadership and training decks for Security Specialists.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
High degree of professionalism and accountability.
CPP (Certified Protection Professional) certification is preferred.
Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED certifications are preferred.
Understand applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
Can prepare for, respond to and safely mitigate emergency situations.
Self-starter with the ability to problem solve with little supervision and proactively identify improvement opportunities.
Adapts to changing business priorities and environments.
8 years experience in a Corporate Security or Law Enforcement role.
5 years experience managing security specialists.
Experience in Emergency Response and First Responder services (e.g., Fire, First Aid, CPR, etc.).
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience in writing reports and procedures.
Ability to remain calm and take control during emergency situations.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen.
Red Cross First-Aid, CPR and AED certifications are preferred.
CPP (Certified Protection Professional) certification is preferred.
Some experience in Executive Protection services is preferred.
Some expertise in technical security applications is preferred.
25% travel to various Field Offices and Corporate Event locations on a quarterly basis.
The primary location is Bethlehem PA with travel to our Manhattan, NY and Holmdel, NJ offices as well as occasional travel to other Field Offices.
