The Datacenter Physical Security team (DCPS), sits within MCIO and among other duties is responsible for the physical security of all critical infrastructure facilities worldwide. We manage strategic and tactical activities to ensure this is achieved in a very fast paced, high tech environment, working with multiple stakeholders and priorities.
DCPS is looking for a motivated and talented people manager to lead our team of Regional Security Operations Managers (RSOMs) and help deliver on related strategic security initiatives. The individual we seek will have significant experience managing physical security SMEs who are individual contributors with their own portfolio of sites and work, handling escalations and incidents 24x7x365, and be able to lead their team to implement change, make good decisions, and deliver high quality services and work product. The Security Group Manager - Operations reports to the Director of Security Operations and must be a thought leader, team player with strong communication and relationship management skills and the ability to effectively manage and develop people along with a demanding workload across geographic and organizational boundaries.

Function as a datacenter physical security subject matter expert.
Continuously improve the efficiency and maturity of the overall physical security program.
Manage a team focused on enabling a trustworthy physical computing environment that protects customer data, intellectual property, people, and the critical infrastructure facilities in which they reside or operate.
Receive escalations of physical security and business impacting incidents/events and appropriately triage, ensuring that leadership is made initially and continuously aware when appropriate and that the RSOM team is managing the incident response effectively.
Serve as a functional backup for the Director of Security Operations as required.
Oversee and ensure the quality and high-performance delivery of one of the largest contract/vendor security guarding programs in the industry. Continuously assess and scorecard the vendors’ performance and staffing levels, recommend changes to reduce costs and optimize, ensure workplace health and safety programs are in place and running well, etc.
Ensure the RSOM team and the security vendor successfully represent Microsoft during internal, external, and customer audits and evangelism efforts.
Ensure the RSOM team and security vendor is compliant with all security controls, policies, and objectives at all times.
Collaborate with peer teams and organizations to ensure the security operations organization and RSOM team are aligned with broader strategy and initiatives, fully supporting leadership priorities, being good partners, helping reduce costs, time burden, and complexity, and being responsive trusted advisors.
Continuously seek and recommend strategies and ideas to reduce churn, optimize, implement a creative solution to a problem, scale, automate, and simplify.
Oversee assigned projects to ensure they are delivered in accordance with established requirements, deadlines, and applicable employment law and company policy.
Develop policy, procedures, and guidance as necessary to support successful security operations.
Conduct field site visits to assess the state and health of physical security, visit direct reports based remotely, document issues needing improvement, and drive to resolution.
Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and protect Microsoft information without question.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY
7+ years’ experience successfully managing large scale/global physical security operations teams and programs.
Ability to be on call 24x7x365 and travel periodically (approximately 15%) within the U.S. and internationally in both planned and unplanned scenarios.
CPP certification, or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment.
Business degree/MBA, or other college degree related to security management.
An expertise in security operations with an understanding of physical security design, security systems installation, and background checks and how they all integrate to form an ecosystem.
Experience with or exposure to regulatory and industry compliance frameworks and audits (e.g. ISO27001, PCI, HIPAA, SSAE16, FISMA).
Confident and skilled in preparing and delivering presentations and briefings to customers, senior leaders, and executives.
Experience making and influencing good decisions that impact mission-critical, 24x7 operations environments.
Strong work and compliance ethic, and the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic and high-pressure environment.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products for business.
Analytical and process improvement skills to produce data driven insights and associated process changes.
Thought leadership and subject matter expertise to deliver one or more large programs and services while increasing standardization, simplification, and automation.
Ability to change plans, goals, actions, and priorities in response to an evolving business environment with awareness to operate as a champion for course corrections when necessary.
