Under general supervision, incumbents in this class work with a wide variety of highly complex and sophisticated computerized safety, security and alarm systems. Incumbents also analyze client needs, install, maintain, test, and repair a wide variety of electronic safety, warning, and security equipment.
Either: 1. Two years of full-time paid experience as an Electronics Technician in Sacramento County.
Or: 2. Three years experience performing the duties of installation, maintenance, testing and repair of a broad range of electronic safety and security equipment and systems, including fire, burglary, and video security equipment.
Education or training in electrical technology, electrical engineering, electronics, communications technology or a field that is directly related to the knowledge and abilities above, may substitute for one year of the required general experience; acceptable proof of such education or training is one of the following:
a) an A.A. or A.S. degree, or higher, in one of the above fields from an accredited two-year or four-year college or university; or b) a certificate of completion of a vocational training program in one of the above fields at an accredited college, trade or military school; or completion of 30 semester (45 quarter) units in one of the above fields at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university.
