The Security Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision of Security Staff and security functions. They help ensure we provide a safe environment for fans, employees, partners and Rock Hall collections.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Works onstage 70% of each scheduled day, embodying our mission to “Engage, Teach and Inspire through the power of rock and roll”.
Inspects building daily and reports any safety hazards.
Assists fans needing special accommodations. Identifies ADA requirements and ensures our compliance. Become a certified ADA expert.
Understands the Rock Hall brand and our fans. Serves as a role model for all visitor facing staff.
Responsible for daily Security department functions.
Acts as the lead when no managers are present.
Makes initial attempt to address disorderly or dissatisfied fans. Contacts Security Manager if the situation cannot be resolved timely and satisfactorily.
Responds and makes initial attempts to address emergency situations according to Rock Hall procedures and assists fans, partners and employees in emergency situations. Acts as liaison to EMS/paramedics and fire or police as directed in emergency situations if necessary.
Acts as the communications liaison between Security Representatives and management.
Oversees radio communication and command center operation. Is trained on and can operate the fire systems, security cameras, access controls systems, etc.
Assists all co-workers as requested.
Helps fulfill Security Department goals and objectives.
Works with Department Manager to create and implement departmental policies, procedures, security programs, training and upgrades.
Makes suggestions for improving departmental policies and procedures.
Coordinates and supervises contract security services as required for special events.
Supervises Security staff.
Sets a strong example for Security and other staff. Observes and provides prompt feedback and direction to staff. Ensures Security staff learn and develop new skills.
Keeps Department Manager apprised of staffing issues, including performance problems and attendance matters.
In the absence of the Visitor Services Supervisor, responsible for supervising Lead Visitor Services Representatives and Visitor Services Staff.
5. Assists in the training of Security Representatives.
Arranges new-hire orientation, uniform distribution and locker assignments.
Assists in the creation and execution of Security staff professional development.
Ensures Security staff develops and maintains an in-depth knowledge of the Rock Hall exhibits, special accommodations, Rock Hall policy and procedures, alarm systems, etc.
Helps train all Rock Hall staff in emergency and evacuation procedures.
6. Develops and maintains weekly schedules for Security staff.
Assesses staffing and security needs based on the needs of the business, including attendance projections, group sales and private events. Ensures the equalization of overtime and holiday work schedule.
Reviews and approves ADP timecards weekly; reports any discrepancies to Department Manager.
Duties include but may not be limited to the above.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Level: Ability to read and demonstrate basic oral, written, mathematical and manual skills. Ability to communicate in standard English. High school graduate and equivalent professional experience. Associates Degree in criminal justice or related field preferred.
Experience in Field: Two (2) to three (3) years experience in a highly visible security position where there is significant exposure and contact with customers/fans.
Minimum 120 hours of Ohio Peace Officer Training Center (OPTC) preferred.
Problem solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
First-aid and CPR certified.
Bilingual capabilities preferred.
Ability to successfully pass a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame reference check, background investigation and drug screening.
Ability to wear a complete uniform including ear phones/radio headset.
Computer Literate: Microsoft Products, helpful.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to get along with other people.
Environmental Parameters: Ability to work in a window-less office. Ability to work in confined areas (security office). Ability to work in all types of weather conditions. Ability to work in crowds of people.
Strength: Lift up to 20 lbs. (approximately).
Type: Express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word and to perceive nature of sounds. Ability to hear accurately to monitor radios and interact with the public. Demonstrate clarity of vision to distinguish date and time on admission tickets; judge distance and space relationships; identify and distinguish colors. Ability to perform tasks concurrently. Work involves walking or standing most of the time but may involve sitting for brief periods of time.
Work Schedule: Ability to work up to 40 hours per week; any shift as assigned, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Ability to work rotating shifts and on short notice. Ability to work overtime as business needs demand.
Equipment Used: Two-way radio, ear piece, personal computer, telephone, photocopier, fax machine, calculator, surveillance detection instruments and other office equipment.
Safety Hazards: General office working conditions. Ability to work under emergency, critical, or unusual conditions where there is potential danger to life, health or bodily injury.
Analytical: Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Communication: Ability to be conversant in Rock Hall rules and procedures, ability to resolve issues arising from displeased fans. Ability to understand and carry out written or verbal instructions. Ability to answer inquiries from fans.
Administrative: Ability to complete forms. Ability to pay attention to detail and accurately distinguish data. Ability to organize and prioritize various schedules, data and documents.
Motor Coordination: Ability to make necessary movements in selecting, picking and depositing items.
Finger Dexterity: Ability to pick, pinch or otherwise work with fingers to operate above equipment. Ability to pick up a variety of items and place them on shelves; to move knobs, buttons or switches.
Manual Dexterity: Ability to seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with hands. Ability to shake, sort, fold or stack items; to place and retrieve items.
