The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama Physical Security Department provides services for controlling access to the campus in order to protect the information entrusted by our customers as well as facilitate efficient business operations. Physical Security operations include, but are not limited to: controlling facility access via electronic and physical measures, monitoring incoming and outgoing personnel traffic flow, maintaining badge access control for critical and non-critical areas, maintaining a visitor management system database, monitoring event activities as well as providing security support and assistance as necessary. The department contains two divisions, electronic security and physical security, which work together as a team to provide the best services possible.
The Electronic Security Technician is responsible for ensuring a safe workplace for all employees and visitors by keeping all electronic security equipment operational. The incumbent must install, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on electronic security equipment. The incumbent must have a working knowledge of software operating systems and troubleshoot and perform upgrades to these systems.
Summary of Qualifications
•5 years of related experience in the electronic security service industry as an Installer or Service Technician •Understand networking principles, fiber optic transmission methods and knowledge of how to terminate fiber optics •Software House Basic Installer Maintainer Certification or upon hire actively pursue •Avigilon Level 1 Certification or upon hire actively pursue •Software House Advanced Installer Maintainer Certification or upon hire actively pursue •Avigilon Level 2 Certification or upon hire actively pursue •Willingness to climb ladders, stand for long periods of time, and carry at least 50 lbs •Working knowledge of CASI, Pelco, Ademco and basic electronics preferred •Project management experience preferred •Effective communication skills, both oral and written preferred
