Reporting to the ETS Safety Manager, the Security Supervisor is responsible for the day to day administration of the ETS CCTV System providing leadership and management for ETS Property and Exhibit Unit staff and the safety and security Methods Analysts. This position will support ETS and advance safety and security compliance for the patrons, staff and infrastructure through direct contact with security service providers to ETS as well as Transport Canada.
Represent ETS on Transport Canada Committees as required
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regularly within the defined scope of the position
Creation, amendment and retention of policy as it relates to emergency response, security responsibilities and records management
Provide leadership, advice and guidance to the Video Detail and Property Exhibit Technicians
Recruitment for vacant positions, performance reviews and discipline consistent with relevant Collective Agreements and the COE Code of Conduct
Manage and facilitate emergency response planning relative to ETS Security Manage Unit Operations including the allocation and evaluation of resources Research and review industry best practices and trends to facilitate continual improvement
Participate in collective bargaining preparations, providing input into the development of proposals
Participate in Alternative Dispute Resolution process for discrepancies or disputes regarding policy and service level agreements related to security services provided
Design, develop and monitor policy, procedures, work processes and establish related performance standards for security delivery to ETS
Participate in budget processes, monitor and identify ongoing requirements to sustain industry best practices
Plan, organize and deliver strategic plans to direct and manage two unique organizational units
Set Key Performance Indicators and set the minimum requirements with measurable goals and outcomes
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, law enforcement or related field. A relevant diploma and management-level training and related experience will be considered in lieu of education
7 years of progressively responsible related work experience as a supervisor and directly managing a team in a unionized environment, including experience in policy writing and administration
In depth knowledge and experience working with privacy legislation and protection of personal information
Experience working with collective agreements, human resources policies and processes
Experience with budget development and monitoring would be an asset
Proven ability to build and develop strategic and collaborative partnerships with diverse stakeholders, such as senior management, cross departmental staff at all levels, union representatives, and external stakeholders
Ability to build and develop collaborative partnerships with community groups, members of the public and other related stakeholders
Leadership and human resource management skills including performance development/improvement, interdisciplinary team building and individual and team supervision
Excellent listening, facilitation, presentation, and both written and oral communication skills
Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, utilize discretion and exercise sound judgment
Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize
Exemplary leadership skills, sound judgment, the ability to make sound decisions in a high pressure, time sensitive environment, and the ability to work in a confidential manner
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
