Independently and in accordance with Corporate Security colleagues, the Operational Security Specialist (OSS) will work with the business unit to implement, and manage corporate security processes and guidelines at Daimler facilities. The OSS is a Subject Matter Expert, facilitator and liaison supporting the Corporate Security governance role. The OSS will work with the Business Unit’s Site Security Officers in all matters related to security topics. The OSS will support the Regional Security Officer (RSO), the National Security Officer (NSO) and the Business Unit (BU).
Business Unit Support:
Work with the Business Unit and Corporate Security to ensure current security policies and best practices are implemented. Support the Business Unit in completing the annual security self-assessment at all required locations. Provide security expertise, support and guidance to the Site Security Officers (SSO) at each location within the assigned Business Unit. Assist the Business Unit in the development of the required Crisis Management Plans and support the Business Unit’s implementation of required Crisis Management training exercises. Act as a liaison between the Business Unit and Corporate Security to provide additional support, resources and expertise as required. (30%)
Proactively identify and recommend areas for improving overall security at Daimler facilities while mitigating risks, managing costs and making use of technology wherever feasible. Conduct risk based physical security assessments at locations within the assigned business unit and other Daimler business units as requested to review security measures, identify opportunities to reduce risk and improve overall security. Support the assigned business unit and the National Security Officer (NSO) by working with Security Vendors and Contractors who provide security support at Daimler facilities as the first point of contact and liaison. Develop creative physical security solutions to increase the level of security of a Daimler facility while minimizing the impact to productivity and the culture of the facility. Assist in the planning and oversight of selected security improvement projects within the assigned Business Unit and other Daimler locations as requested. Support the Regional Security Officer and National Security Officer in presenting findings and recommendations to Business Unit management as needed. (25%)
Standards Implementation and Training Development:
Support the Regional Security Officer and National Security Officer to ensure consistency with Global, National and Regional Corporate Security Standards. Ensure the locations of the assigned business unit have implemented security standard operating procedures and reporting. Work with the National Security Officer and Site Security Officers to identify the need to create, modify or delete security procedures and processes in light of changing conditions. Work with the National Security Officers, Site Security Officers and Operational Site Security Officers and colleagues to identify the need for and develop standard security training programs. Coordinate, conduct and support the business in implementation of Security training initiatives. Work with the Corporate Security colleagues and the business to develop and implement security training support for Site Security Officers (SSO) and ensure they understand and are implementing Security standards. EVENT SECURITY: Conduct risk assessments, develop security concepts and oversee the implementation of security recommendations for major events at the assigned business unit and support other Daimler Business Units as needed in accordance with security standards developed by the CS Centers of Competence.
INFORMATION PROTECTION: Conduct risk assessments, develop security concepts and oversee the implementation of the security recommendations for Daimler prototypes, pre-release models and other intellectual property areas at the assigned business unit and support other business units as needed to maintain confidentiality in line with the Centers of Competence security standards.
TRAVELER/ASSIGNEE SECURITY: Support assignees, ex-patriates and travelers within the assigned business unit through initiatives such as: housing security assessments/recommendations, location reviews, incident response, security advice and support in accordance with the security standards of the CS Centers of Competence.
EXECUTIVE PROTECTION: Evaluate risk, plan, prepare and manage executive protection details as needed for executives and employees in increased risk situations within the assigned business unit and as needed in other business units within the region in accordance with the security standards of the CS Centers of Competence.
INVESTIGATION SUPPORT: Assist CS and/or Contracted investigators with investigations being conducted at the assigned business unit to include coordination, contacts and any other assistance needed. (25%)
Must have a minimum of 5 years security experience and 10+ years (total) of experience:
General Business Management
Bachelor’s Degree (accredited school) or equivalent experience with emphasis in the following fields preferred:
Security Industry Certification Preferred e.g. Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP)
Must work flexible hours
Travel domestically and internationally at least 30%
Work Holidays and weekends when required/scheduled
