The Security Specialist, under minimal guidance and modeling Guardian’s values, ensures employee safety. Displaying a confident yet approachable demeanor, the Security Specialist protects all property from theft and damage, makes periodic inspections of premises, checks for irregularities to protection devices, access control and video equipment. The Security Specialist continuously strives to provide superior products and customer service while preserving order, safety, and enforcing company regulations and policies/standards pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.
Performs investigations of alleged misconduct, analyzing facts to help determine the direction of the investigation, making determinations of credibility based on the facts and witness interviews, and recommending findings and conclusions.
Performs site visits to new and existing locations to conduct security assessments and determine control requirements and improvements if necessary.
Performs threat / risk assessments involving executive travel, and accompanies executives to ensure appropriate security measures are in place.
Responds to emergencies in an orderly manner utilizing proper training and following all SOPs.
Acts as a first responder in security emergencies, making “on the spot” determinations of response and determines when an escalated response / potential use of force is required to protect employees.
Interacts with law enforcement and other emergency responders in a highly effective manner.
Provides a courteous, professional, respectful and pleasant interaction with each associate and visitor and presents a professional image of Guardian and of the Corporate Security Office.
Communicates to the extent authorized in a manner that is open, honest and responsive in all situations.
Checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked ingress and egress, access control or video surveillance problems, and unauthorized persons.
Prepares logs or reports in accordance with departmental requirements and procedures.
Documents all incidents in a manner that ensures all facts are accurately reported and can be effectively used in connection with any necessary legal action that may be required.
Screens and assists Guardian associates and visitors and verifies their right to access in an efficient manner in order to safely expedite their admittance to the facility.
Monitors and controls entrances, exits and other areas of the facility and prevents unapproved or unlawful entry.
Performs badging functions for new hires and coordinates access with the building landlord.
Functional Skills & Competencies
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Functional knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
High degree of professionalism and accountability.
Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED certifications are preferred.
Understands applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
Prepares for, responds to and safely mitigates emergency situations.
Self-starter with the ability to problem solve with little supervision.
Manages multiple projects with multiple deliverables simultaneously.
Adapts to changing business priorities and environments.
Five years of experience in corporate security or law enforcement is preferred.
Emergency response/first responder experience, including fire, first aid, CPR, etc.
Strong customer service skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to remain calm and take control during emergency situations.
Experienced in report writing.
Current valid driver’s license is required.
Required to successfully pass a comprehensive background check and to be drug free.
Red Cross First-Aid, CPR and AED certifications are preferred.
Currently certified or able to obtain NJ SORA certification is preferred.
