Skadden is seeking a Security Officer to join our Security team in the Washington, D.C. office. As a member of Skadden's professional staff, the Security Officer will play an integral role in helping the firm provide high-quality service to clients.
The Security Officer assures the safety and security of personnel and property. The hours for the position are Saturday - Sunday: 11:00 pm - 7:00 am and Sunday - Monday: 11:00 pm - 7:00 am with additional hours as needed.
Patrols and conducts inspection of the entire office space and documents any discrepancies.
Identifies and corrects any security, environmental, fire hazards and locks unlocked and unoccupied offices.
Monitors closed-circuit television and alarms and responds as needed.
Unlocks department and office doors for firm personnel; records all admissions into offices or secured areas.
Monitors use of identification card reader which tracks professional staff work hours.
Provides security escorts for employees, contractors and visitors as requested.
Prepares reports detailing security and safety-related incidents including accidents, illnesses, criminal activity and equipment malfunction and forwards the reports to the Security Supervisor.
Engages in special investigations involving misplaced/lost articles within the firm.
Reports to Security Supervisor and, if appropriate, to police authorities all unusual occurrences or conditions and any incidence of visitor or employee actions, which could result in injury or loss to the firm or employees.
Responds to medical or criminal emergencies and performs emergency first aid and/or CPR/AED as needed and contacts police or emergency medical teams as needed.
Assists with the building emergency evacuation procedures.
Processes photo IDs for employees and vendors.
Performs frequent physical exertion including: standing, walking, climbing, repetitive use of both hands, lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds on an occasional basis.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Ability to obtain job-related certification including CPR/AED and first aid.
Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel) with the ability to learn new software and operating systems.
Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs.
