Mead & Hunt, Inc., a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, has a position available for a security electronics designer. Responsibilities include designing security electronics equipment and systems within jails, prisons and courthouses; providing support for infrastructure and layout of security electronics rooms and systems for new and renovation projects; participating in technical meetings with clients, construction staff, and project team members including preparing the meeting documentation; assisting with review of reports, specifications, plans, schedules, and studies; assisting with developing construction cost estimates; performing construction administration tasks and site inspections. Regular travel will be required.
The successful candidate must have an associate degree (or higher) in technology design, engineering technology, or related field and at least five years of relevant experience related to building design (security electronics preferred). If no degree, must have at least seven years of experience related to building design (at least 4 of these years must be experience with security electronics design).
The ideal candidate shall have experience with any/all of the following: designing security electronics within/for secure spaces; drafting/designing with AutoCAD and/or Revit; Bluebeam, Microsoft Word and Excel; building design, construction, materials and methods; building information and communications technology (ICT) systems and the documentation process involving new and/or renovation projects. The ideal candidate will also have the Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification or have the ability to obtain RCDD certification within two years of hire.
