Berkeley Lab’s Site Security Organization has a new opening for a Physical Security Specialist that will play a critical role in the development, maintenance, and implementation of innovative security technology strategies and solutions for the Physical Security Program. The Physical Security Program is responsible for the protection of the Lab’s people, properties, and assets. Daily operations include developing and implementing site surveys and risk management, security systems design, conducting risk assessment vulnerability reports and impact analysis, program management, and documentation of systems, procedures, and metrics.
What You Will Do:
Support the Physical Security Manager with the analysis, development and implementation plans for security programs, policies, guidelines, and methodologies.
Maintain Physical Security Systems data, documentation, and program content on team’s intranet site and shared drives.
Provide Physical Security Program support functions, including updating program management reports and tracking progress of ongoing initiatives.
Define systems and resiliency risks through impact assessments; collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Work closely with internal partners on site security as a Security Product Manager to understand and address their needs pertaining to technology solutions. Attend project meetings to assess security implications of proposed changes.
Support security exercises and testing.
Assist with and perform physical security audits and inspections.
Assist with the development, management, and reporting or Physical Security Key Risk Indicators and Key Performance Indicators. Track and report program performance and assurance compliance.
Assist with implementation of Security technology strategies and solutions for access control and closed circuit TV systems and their integration at the Security Operations Center.
Act as a member of the LNBL Emergency Response Organization as required.
What is Required:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, security management or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of substantial experience related to the essential duties and responsibilities of the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification(s) as an Administrator for an Access Control System or Video Management System.
Demonstrated experience with technical programs, technical project management and systems design related to essential duties to include information management systems and databases.
Working knowledge in the areas of information technology n-tier architecture, IP networking, SQL query use, inter-application communication and data exchange, and endpoint device operations in a security technology environment.
Broad knowledge of Security Operations Center Technology.
Experience with Access Control Systems (e.g., HID SAFE, Lenel OnGuard).
Strong communication, analytical and critical thinking skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Significant experience as a physical security operations center analyst, corporate security specialist, public safety, risk management or other related field is a plus.
Valid driver’s license (REAL ID compliance by required date).
