Sixth & I is seeking a full-time Security Manager. Reporting to the Director of Operations and Human Resources, the Security Manager will represent Sixth & I as a security expert and serve as an advisor, liaison and training coordinator to provide direction and maintain oversight for the development, organization, implementation and monitoring of Sixth & I’s security operations and program. This includes managing contracted security guards, providing guidance and strategic direction to ensure the safety and security of all staff and patrons and serve as the Incident Commander during crisis response and mitigation efforts. This position requires being present at events including talks, concerts, comedy shows, podcasts, along with educational classes and presentations, religious services and private events. A typical work schedule for this position will be 1:00 pm – 9:30 pm across weeknights and weekends, with fluctuations earlier and later as events demand. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Determine security requirements for each event, in consultation with program staff and create monthly calendar for all security needs of building.
- Manage security personnel at events: brief on details of event, assign positions as needed, and reposition guards as events unfold.
- In the event of emergency, the Security Manager would be the Incident Commander.
- Ensure the highest standards for customer service inform all security operations.
- Ensure security guards, part-time event staff, and volunteers know, uphold, and enforce policies.
- Monitor physical security systems including but not limited to: CCTV system, door access systems, intrusion, sprinkler and fire systems.
- Work through appropriate agencies to obtain public space and parking permits as needed.
- Serve as Sixth & I’s security representative to local and regional partners, to include other Jewish organizations and agencies, local, state, federal law enforcement, and other stakeholder organizations.
- Work with Senior Leadership to design, develop, implement and manage security policies, procedures, recommendations and standards to ensure compliance with applicable security laws, regulations and privacy legislation, as appropriate.
- Be able to communicate internally and externally a working knowledge of the Sixth & I’s security objectives, mission, policies and positions and relevant local, national and world events that might impact Sixth & I or its community members.
- Provide ongoing review and development of security programs at Sixth & I to include, but not limited to physical security, building hardening, personnel security, training programs, and event security.
- Direct management of the guard force, plans, policies, crisis and emergency response, training, and other relevant security related programs.
- Receive and conduct initial investigations, in conjunction with appropriate law enforcement partners, of matters impacting Sixth & I’s safety and security.
