| The Center for Cyber Security, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a research assistant to work on interdisciplinary sociotechnical research related to the spread and influence of online misinformation. The successful applicant will be involved in conducting research using quantitative and qualitative methods by applying a number of approaches, including but not limited to: online surveys and experiments, user studies, building and evaluating prototypes of novel solutions, etc. In collaboration with the Principal Investigator, the applicant will participate in analysis and interpretation of data, will publish results, will represent the university at conferences and meetings, and may develop new theories and methodologies. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students. The candidate will also be expected to actively participate in other activities organized by the Center for Cyber Security at NYU Abu Dhabi. Applicants must have (or be close to completing) a B.Sc. in Computer Science, or quantitative social sciences. Have experience in conducting online experiments and/or user studies. Excellent skills in several programming languages (mainly Python, R, Java and C) are required. Also, applicants will be required to follow up and contribute to critical analysis of research problems and develop independent ideas around testing and evaluating misinformation systems. The terms of employment are very competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children.
