WSP is currently seeking a Security Systems Designer to join the Buildings engineering team in Ottawa. This opportunity is excellent for an individual looking to enter the field of consulting. The successful candidate is an EIT, designer, or technician within the security industry eager to advance their career.

A typical week would include:
Ideally, you will have a background in electronic security. You will be collaborative in your approach but can work independently or as part of a larger team where required.
Technical security systems design (video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, duress, real-time location and the integration and networking of these systems)
Contribute to projects from beginning to end, including research, Concept Design, Schematic Design, Detailed Design, Construction Documents, Tender Review, and Construction Administration.
Support workshops to learn technical and functional requirements from a broad range of stakeholders and help develop client-focused solutions across a varied mix of technologies.
Develop professional client-facing documents, including technical specifications and reports, using standard software tools such as Microsoft O365 Suite and Bluebeam
Participate in technical and project meetings with a varied audience and participant mix, including management, end-user, and technical teammates
Work individually or collaboratively with a variety of teams.
Ability to follow complex instructions and diagrams to create or modify drawings adhering to standards.
Coordinate filing, storage and retrieval of both manual and electronic drawings.
Perform system drawing and technology research.
We'd love to hear from you if you have...
5-10 years of experience in consulting engineering, systems integration or related sectors, and a keen interest in Smart Buildings
Experience with AutoCAD, REVIT or BIM.
Experience in IT and audiovisual systems would be considered an asset.
A Bachelor of Engineering would be advantageous.
Professional writing skills, including report and specification writing
A reliable and flexible approach to the working environment
Willingness to obtain PSPC Secret or Top-Secret Clearance
Excellent time management to meet deadlines and manage priorities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in the use of the MS O365 Suite.
Must hold a valid driver’s license for periodic project related travel.
Relevant industry certification (i.e. P.Eng., PSP) is advantageous.
