General Description: This position is responsible for providing security and safety functions on the NVCC campuses and all property owned by the College and to provide a safe and secure environment.
Duties and Tasks: Duties encompass patrol, traffic control (vehicular and pedestrian), site and building access, assisting the public, information exchange and reporting unusual or emergency conditions to the appropriate authorities.

Required KSAs: â¢Ability to complete DCJS Campus Security Officer training certification. â¢Ability to follow instructions. â¢Ability to speak and understand English. â¢Good oral and written communication skills. â¢Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the laws of the Commonwealth, local ordinances and College policies through performance of daily tasks. â¢Ability to maintain positive public relations. â¢Ability to meet physical demands of job duties. â¢Pass a background investigation, psychological and physical exam.
Minimum Qualifications: â¢High school diploma or equivalent. â¢Must be 21 years of age. â¢United States citizen or legal resident alien of the United States. â¢Qualification for appointment as a campus security officer under DCJS guidelines. â¢Valid Virginia state driver's license and clean driving record. â¢No criminal record. â¢Security work experience and/or physical security and protection of assets training; â¢Previous emergency services experience â¢Previous military experience â¢Experience using radio communications equipment.
