The Physical Security Technology Manager reports to the Deputy Chief of Security and oversees the day-to-day Security Technology operations of the YU Security Department. This department is a unit within the Department of Administrative Services.
The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 6:00 pm-10:00 pm.
Works to identify new sources of technology designed for safety and emergency response
Maintain scope of work plans and specifications
Coordinate procurement of materials and services
Maintain installation schedules and coordinate task-scheduling with departments involved
Select and monitor the performance of subcontractors
Maintain records of job status, job changes and material flow
Supervise installers and technicians as well as subcontractors
Ensure compliance with all State and Federal regulations as applicable to service, installation, maintenance of systems and OSHA safety standards
Installing / Pulling networking wire
Mounting Access Control Panels, Analog and IP CCTV cameras, field devices, and power supplies
Install and Program workstations (PC)
Test and inspect Security equipment
Research Technologies that can be applied to the University Security paradigm
Train Staff on New CCTV and Access Control Systems
At the direction of the University, research information about federal, state, local and private grant-funding opportunities aligned with the University's Physical Security priorities
Under the direction of administrative leadership understand areas of strategic priority for the University and clarify University grant objectives. Retrieve data and information from the institution, from valid and relevant external sources to support grant proposal development
Aligned with institutional priorities collaborate with relevant faculty and institutional leaders to garner information, write and submit compelling grant proposals aligned with University's Physical Security priorities
Edit and revise grant applications. Create and maintain a grant development calendar to track current and pending grant proposals. Ensure accountability reporting is completed for funded grants
Plans and develops content of messages designed to alert the campus community as well as external resources of an evolving event on campus
Provides training to identified individuals who may be required to communicate emergency information to the campus community during an event
Make timely, sound decisions and accept concomitant responsibility
Experience & Educational Background:
A minimum 10 years physical security technology experience required, preferably in a law enforcement, public safety, or university environment
Valid driver's license
Ability to successfully complete a background investigation with no prior criminal convictions that would prohibit the individual from attaining a New York State Security Guard License
Skills & Competencies:
Must be technically proficient with the following hardware systems: PC and handhelds, Datacard & Fargo Printers. Lenel Access control panels, Pelco/Integral NVR (Network Video Recorders). Programming of cctv hardware and network IP cameras from Hikvision, Arecont, Axis, Panasonic, Samsung/Hanwha & Pelco
Must be technically proficient with the following software systems: Lenel OnGuard system, OneCard (Heartland Campus Cards Solutions), Genetec Security Center, Info Graphics ID software (Diamond II), GE Wave Reader, DS Control Point & Admin (Pelco). Ocean Systems ClearID, IRIMS incident reporting software, ResSched resource scheduling software, MS Office Suite, MS Visio, Internet Proficient & Adobe Pro
