We are seeking an Assistant Facility Security Officer for the JHU-Whiting School of Engineering (WSE) Energetics Research Group (ERG) to assist with classified and unclassified-restricted operations. It will provide assistance to the WSE-ERG Facility Security Officer and will have oversight of products and services; security roles associated with DoD/NASA meeting planning and attendance; and classified and unclassified-restricted publications.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and vetting ERG's Customer Portal Accounts to assure qualifications for products, services, and meeting attendance.
- Managing ERG's Annual Subscription Accounts for products and services. Includes invoicing, product management, and dissemination.
- Oversight and final approvals of classified and unclassified-restricted documentation prior to publication.
- Act as a resource to employees to ensure the classified and restricted work including documents are handled properly and ensure they maintain required certifications in compliance with government and customer regulations.
- Assist FSO with periodic reinvestigations, clearance certifications, personnel visit authorizations (incoming and outgoing), and access control.
- Assist the FSO with Security briefings, debriefings, out-processing, and security awareness training.
- Assist FSO in the preparation of DCSA audits, inspections, and reviews.
- Provide assistance for the oversight of security plans for classified and restricted conferences (at least two per year) that include the hiring and oversight of temporary security agencies to secure area perimeters.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of security policies and procedures.
- Assisting the FSO and the IT Team with the handling of classified and unclassified-restricted practices and procedures with management and maintenance of safes, classified and unclassified-restricted computer hardware and software.
- Ensures materials are properly locked up and stored during off work hours daily.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 3 years of experience as a Special Security Coordinator, Assistant Contractor Special Security Officer or similar role, in a cleared facility, including experience with personnel security & clearance processing.
- U.S. citizenship required. Candidates must possess or be able to obtain a U.S. Government personal security clearance in a reasonable period of time. Some travel required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of relevant professional level experience in the industrial security career field.
- Hold an active Secret level security clearance or have the ability to obtain a Secret level clearance in a reasonable period of time.
- Considerable knowledge of Department of Defense (DOD) and Company security policies, programs, and requirements.

Experience or familiarity with:
- National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM)
- DISS Information Systems for Security (DISS)
- National Industrial Security Systems (NISS)
- Secure Web Fingerprint Transmission (SWFT)
- eMASS (The Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service)
- Classified and unclassified-restricted security markings, publication processes including dissemination of information and materials.
- Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Superior computer-related skills, proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Highly motivated, dynamic, responsive, and professional team player
- Excellent customer service, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to make effective use of time and resources
- Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing to both internal and external customers.
