The Medical Device Cyber Security Engineer must understand information technology security theory and put it into practice to rapidly assess and protect computerized medical devices from network attacks, malware infections, inappropriate device configurations, risky disposition of protected information, and compliance-related issues; be able to independently perform the full range of responsibilities within the function; possesses broad job knowledge; have the capability to analyzes problems/issues of diverse scope and determine solutions.
This role is to be filled by an experienced engineer with good project management and operational skills, and an ability to engage in the technical details required to resolve medical device cyber-security issues. The Medical Device Cyber Security Engineer also must appreciate the value of leveraging enterprise support systems to manage large numbers of medical devices and be interested in maintaining cyber security using these capabilities.
In this position, you will help to collect and track key cyber security information on thousands of medical devices used to deliver needed clinical care to UCSF Health's patients. You will also apply patches, configure devices, and specific network security settings, and monitor these devices to insure their safe operation. This role will require a continual learner, keeping up with the dynamic changes occurring in the cyber-security realm, especially among the unique systems used in medical devices.
Throughout these responsibilities, the Medical Device Cyber Security Engineer will collaborate with clinicians, IT architects, network engineers, IT security professionals, biomedical equipment technicians, clinical engineers, imaging engineers, and program managers to provide expertise in cyber-security management for medical devices.
