Eastern Shore Community College is a member of the Virginia Community College System. The College serves the residents of Accomack County and Northampton County as a two-year institution of higher learning. This position will serve as an informational, directional, and coordinating guide to what is offered at ESCC.This is one recruitment to fill 3 positions.The Security Officer position works to ensure a safe environment for staff, students and visitors of the campus. The purpose of these positions is for assistance to staff, students, and visitors by providing information, directions, and access to various areas of the campus. To protect property from theft or damage and protect persons from hazards or interference. Patrols campus to check for irregularities and responds accordingly by contacting emergency responders, if necessary. To preserve order and enforce regulations pertaining to personnel, students, visitors, and premises.
Knowledge of security operations and procedures and ability to provide security services throughout campus environment. Ability to communicate in a manner that is open, honest and responsive in all situations and provide courteous, respectful and pleasant interaction. Must possess good skills of observation and memory. Excellent moral character and reputation. Physical and mental capacity to effectively perform all required functions. Possess a valid driverâ™s license. Effective oral and written communication skills. Graduation from high school or successful completion of GED or relevant full-time work experience. Prior security experience is required. DCJS Campus Security Officer Certification or the ability to obtain it within 6 months of hire.
