Chapman University Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)
Chapman University seeks an experienced, forward-thinking information security executive to serve as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). The CISO is a critical hire and will have a key role in supporting Chapman University's strategic priorities including operational excellence and growth of its research portfolio. Chapman University is a nationally ranked institution offering traditional undergraduate and graduate programs in the heart of Orange County, one of Southern California's most diverse and vibrant regions. The university holds R2 status in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, a distinction held by just 10 percent of all U.S. universities. Chapman's campus is home to approximately 9,500 students from 49 states, the U.S. territories and more than 60 different countries. Students enroll in eleven schools and colleges that offer rigorous undergraduate programs in the arts and sciences, innovative interdisciplinary programs and select pre-professional and graduate programs.
The CISO will report to the Chief Information Officer and will provide the strategic and operational leadership for information security. The CISO will have the opportunity to fully evaluate the existing environment and develop the plan to enhance the capabilities of the information security program to address risks, protect the institution and enable its priorities. This leader will oversee ongoing activities and projects that will safeguard institutional data confidentiality, integrity, and availability while providing students, faculty, and staff with secure and reliable access to systems and information. The CISO will lead the strategy and culture of information security across the enterprise.
The ideal candidate for the CISO position will be a dynamic leader with a proven track record of success leading information security within a complex organization in higher education and/or industry. The CISO will be a trusted advisor with deep knowledge in information security and the ability to engage a diverse group of stakeholders including board members, administration, staff, faculty, researchers and students. The CISO will be a collaborative, consensus-driven leader with strong communication and relationship building skills.
Chapman is open to the CISO being a remote role.

The identified salary range for this position is $280,000 to $300,000, commensurate with experience.
