Reporting to the Director of Safety and Security, the Lead Safety and Security Officer is tasked with overseeing and managing all daily security operations which operates on a 24/7 basis servicing the College of Saint Scholastica, the St. Scholastica Monastery, and the Benedictine Living Community. This is a key position in assisting the Director of Safety and Security in achieving the departmental primary goals and objectives. The Lead Safety and Security Officer would join the Director of Safety and Security, and a team of security officers, that staff the day-to-day safety and security coverage for the institution. In addition, the Lead Safety and Security Officer leads the administrative aspects of the department with a focus on the day-to-day operational duties and supports the departmental plan, process development, and planning.

Maintain Day-to-Day Safety and Security Operations and Needs in Support of Departmental Objectives.
Essential Job Duties:
Oversee and maintain daily Safety and Security operations.
Assist the Director of Safety and Security and the Safety and Security Officers in the staffing of the day-to-day departmental coverage for the institution.
Work with Director of Safety and Security to review operating procedures, adjust operations, and resolve operational issues as they arise.
Manage Safety and Security Officer training and logistics.
Conduct debriefings and reviews of Safety and Security Officer involved incidents with the Director of Safety and Security and Student Affairs leadership.
Develop and maintain Safety and Security Officer schedules and oversee timesheet and payroll administration.
Assure Safety and Security Offers are held to an appropriate standard through a comprehensive and thorough expectation document and annual review.
Maintain and audit access control and logistics, including department vehicle, electronic surveillance, and other issued departmental equipment.
Assist the Director of Safety and Security in coordinating with external organizations and agencies for institutional needs and services.
Partner with various campus departments in the investigation of criminal and safety related incidents.

Required Qualifications:
2-year degree in criminal justice, criminology, public safety, emergency management or a related field with a combination of education, training and/or experience.
Management/supervisory experience in a related field.
Experience leading and managing teams.
Extensive familiarity with safety and security hardware and software and their applications.
Certifications in CPR, First Aid and AED, or have the ability to be certified upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Higher Education Safety and Security Experience
Familiarity with state and federal law and reporting requirements in a higher education setting such as Cleary Act, Violence Against Women Act, and Title IX reporting.
Ability to make accurate decisions reflecting sound judgment, knowledge of law & adherence to established guidelines & procedures.
Demonstrated experience working with and or supporting equity inclusion initiatives.
