JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Deputy Chief Information Security Officer and guidance/mentorship of Senior Information Security Consultants, this position works with campus departments (Units) to ensure their local information security programs are aligned with university goals and objectives and support information security activities managed by the Unit. Consultant serves as an advisor to Unit stakeholders on cyber risks and security remediation strategies.
Following standardized methodologies, the Consultant supports the development of the Unit's cyber information security management and incident response and plans, conducts information security assessments, prepares/reviews security-focused risk treatment plans, and actively supports the Unit's efforts to manage cyber risks and improve its information security posture.
The Consultant supports and enhances collaboration between campus Units and the Information Security Office (ISO) and regularly debriefs the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) on current and emerging information security matters within the Unit. The Consultant advocates for the adoption of new security technologies in support of the Unit's information security objectives and risk mitigation strategies.

Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in the information security field.
Experience building and maintaining positive relationships and meeting client expectations with an emphasis on quality & timeliness of work.
Experience working with service providers.
Experience managing multiple projects under strict timelines in a demanding/dynamic environment, working with highly confidential information.
Experience writing and providing detailed status reports and conducting risk assessments.
Written/verbal communication skills, interpersonal/collaborative skills, & ability to communicate security/risk-related concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.
Preferred:
Minimum of 1 professional certification (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA, or other similar credentials).
Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
2-3 years of experience supporting information security activities and/or information risk management in a large organization.
Knowledge of common information security or cloud security frameworks.
Knowledge and understanding of relevant legal/regulatory requirements (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA, PCI, & FISMA).
