Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position serves as the university's Export Control Officer (ECO) and Facility Security Officer (FSO). The ECO/FSO is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable export control regulations, including but not limited to those established by the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of State, and U.S. Department of Treasury. The Export Control Officer will work closely with various departments to identify potential export control issues and develop mitigation strategies. This position will serve as the Research Security Officer, the liaison of a research security program. In addition, this position will work closely with our Conflict of Interest Officer on COI issues.
Develop and maintain an export control compliance program that aligns with regulatory requirements and institutional policies.
Provide guidance and support to faculty, staff, and students on export control regulations and compliance requirements.
Ensure compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the Office of Foreign Assets Controls (OFAC) regulations, and other import/export laws.
Conduct internal audits and assessments of institutional processes and procedures to ensure compliance with export control regulations.
Manage the company's export control license applications, including drafting and submitting license applications to regulatory agencies when applicable.
Monitor and track shipments of controlled goods to ensure compliance with export control regulations.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to the university's export control activities.
Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies regarding export control matters.

Minimum Experience / Education:
Master's degree, or Bachelor's degree with equivalent experience.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Knowledge of U.S. trade controls, including International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) regulations, to provide analytical support to ensure compliance with internal policies and federal regulations.
Sufficient understanding of technology and the CCL and USML to work with investigators and technicians in making accurate technology classifications and licensing determinations.
Knowledge of immigration requirements and information security.
Ability to read and apply information from regulatory and legal resources such as laws, statutes, and other legally binding resources.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Intermediate experience with word processing and spreadsheet programs.
