Job Description Scope of Position The Lead Security Officer is responsible for the supervision and oversight of all officers and dispatchers, up to 15 FTEs, and operations on the assigned shift in support of the shift supervisor. He/She has a fluent understanding of the unique security patrol and control center operations at the Medical Center and is proficient in written and verbal communication. The Lead Security Officer must be adept in utilizing security specific technologies and software in order to perform investigations or follow up on significant incidents; also must be able to troubleshoot security technologies and effectively communicate problems using appropriate jargon to repair technicians and programing specialists. The Lead Security Officer is, in the absence of the shift supervisor, responsible to deploy or call into action assets to facilitate appropriate response to emergency situations or significant events impacting the Medical Center including missing children/infants, bomb threats, armed aggressors/active shooters, or internal/external disasters. The Lead Security Officer will assist the P3 evaluator by providing feedback regarding performance for all officers and dispatchers under their observation on a daily basis during each performance review period. The Lead Security Officer also assists Security Department Administration in the management of patient property, investigations and other administrative or operational duties as assigned. Position Summary Supervises the operation of assigned working shift. Assists in overseeing and managing patient property and valuables as well as the lost and found functions of the department. Assists in the investigation of patient property losses or thefts, Medical Center thefts, and employee accidents assigned to the Security Department for follow up. Ensures complete, accurate reports with recommendations, as appropriate, are submitted following all investigations. Reports Public Safety and Security concerns and performs all other security department functions as necessary. Minimum Education Required Per Classified Civil Svc Specs or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent certificate; ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and read and write common vocabulary; valid Ohio Driver's License; must serve 12 months probationary period from date of employment. Selected candidate is subject to successful completion of a psychological evaluation. Preferred: Experience equivalent to 1 year of full-time employment in a supervisory role or oversight of personnel and/or critical infrastructure. Evidence of success while operating in dynamic situations involving critical decision making impacting the safety of persons or property. Aptitude relating to the responsibility of personnel oversight, leadership and development. Ability to demonstrate customer service aptitude and to cooperate, communicate and collaborate within diverse academic and care environments across the organization including behavioral health atmospheres. Evidence of proven interpersonal skills in a professional setting; proficiency in conflict resolution, and problem solving. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are crucial. Bachelor?s degree in a related field including but not limited to criminal justice, homeland security, communications, or social sciences; one year or more military and/or law enforcement experience in a leadership capacity; OPOTA Certification; or 5 years? or more experience in a related field.
