The Foote School is seeking a Campus Safety Manager who is responsible for managing the campus's day-to-day security operations, overseeing a team of security staff, and maintaining communications with all concerned parties on and off campus to uphold a safe and secured workplace for students, guests, and school personnel. This role reports directly to the Director of Operations and Information Technology. This is a full-time, 12-month, salaried exempt position and begins July 1, 2023.

Job Responsibilities:
Maintain high visibility as the frontline of security support for the school community:
Perform foot and motor patrols of campus, including building checks
Perform crosswalk duty
Provide supervision for entering and exiting of all guests, vendors, students, and employees, and ensure the smooth day-to-day flow of communication regarding security-related concerns
Maintain student safety on campus, upholding a safe community in accordance with the student code of conduct
Supervise security personnel, including security guards, and coordinate their schedules and assignments
Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, access points, burglary, and fire alarm systems:
Oversee parking lot and vehicle safety on campus
Conduct regular security inspections
Investigate security incidents and ensure proper documentation and reporting to appropriate authorities
Provide incident command and coordinate emergency response for incidents such as fires, missing student(s), or other emergencies
Oversee the daily and long-term safety and security practices of the school:
Collaborate with school administrators and faculty to create a safe and secure learning environment for students and staff
Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies to develop and implement security measures and response plans for potential threats or incidents
Develop and implement security protocols, policies, and procedures for the school, including emergency response plans
Assist with the school’s emergency response training, including conducting regular security drills and exercises
Conduct security assessments and audits to identify potential security risks and make recommendations for improvements
Stay up-to-date with local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to school security and ensure compliance
Assist with the planning and coordination of security operations during high-risk events
Maintain utmost confidentiality and discretion
Report observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities to the Head of School and/or Director of Operations and IT as needed
Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration
Education and Experience Requirements:
Experience working in law enforcement or military police highly preferred, with prior supervisory experience managing scheduling and staffing for various events
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of training and experience required
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a security-related role, preferably in a school or educational setting
Experience with emergency planning, crisis, and incident management
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to establish respect, credibility, and trust and maintain productive working relationships at all levels of the organization
Knowledge and experience in applying best practices for safety and security programs, preferably in an academic setting
Work is performed inside and outside the building with exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable crisis situations; the candidate must be flexible with working hours
Experience with security equipment, including security cameras and alarm systems
Proficiency in Google Suite
Remain calm in fast-paced and stressful situations
Demonstrate attention to detail and is diligent
An active security guard license in Connecticut is required
CPR/First Aid certified
Working Conditions:
The Campus Safety Manager will typically work during regular school hours but may be required to work evenings, weekends, or holidays in the event of an emergency or security incident. The work may involve standing or walking for extended periods and exposure to various weather conditions. The Campus Safety Manager may also be required to respond to security incidents outside regular work hours.
