Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) is seeking a talented Cybersecurity Analyst to join our dynamic Information Technology team. Position Responsibilities:
Review alerts, logs, and data to identify, detect, and respond to cybersecurity threats
Identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities and threats to our network and systems using the vulnerability management lifecycle
Communicate investigation findings and best practices to business units to help improve the information security posture, ensuring end-users understand and adhere to policies and practices required to maintain information security.
Monitor relevant information sources to stay current with the cybersecurity threat landscape and notify IT teams of applicability to the organization’s systems
Identify the tactics, techniques, and procedures of potential threats through the MITRE ATT&CK and similar frameworks
Participate in the creation and review of enterprise security documents (policies, standards, guidelines, procedures, baselines and metrics) under the direction of the Cybersecurity Manager
Perform basic troubleshooting and escalate issues to ensure effective resolution of security baseline deviations and risks
Implement changes to cybersecurity-related domain technologies, executing tests, and reporting on security baselines, violations/anomalies
Investigate cybersecurity incidents and issues by analyzing a chain of events and applying technical knowledge following established procedures and standards
Participate in the evaluation of new products and technologies, under the direction and guidance of senior colleagues, relevant to the assigned cybersecurity area to enhance cybersecurity posture and reduce risk to the organization
Ensure systems and software are configured in accordance with information security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines as established by the organization
Assist the end-user support team with hardware, software, access, and other requests to support IT staff with regard to cybersecurity-related issues
Monitor third-party service providers for compliance with information security policies and procedures
Ability to respond around the clock as needed, including weekends
Position Requirements
EDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information security, computer information systems, or related information technology field or equivalent EXPERIENCE: 3+ years of Information Technology or Information Security experience (can be waived for the right candidate) SKILLS:
Solid understanding of system and network security design, detection and remediation methods, and security testing
Working knowledge of risk management, contingency planning, change management, and auditing
Enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with a positive and professional attitude
Proven interpersonal skills including strong verbal and written communication; ability to effectively work with internal and external partners
