FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Stella and Charles Guttman Community College at CUNY seeks adjunct faculty to teach in the Cybersecurity track of the Guttman???s Information Technology program of study. Topical course areas include cybersecurity, computer forensics, penetration testing, computer networking, Java programming, web technologies, systems analysis and design, and operating systems.
The IT Program at Guttman uses interdisciplinary and experiential approaches to lay a technological and digital knowledge base leading to further study, professional advancement, and the opportunity to specialize in cybersecurity. Blending theory and practice, the inclusive, high-impact curriculum ensures consistent opportunities for students to experience and apply the information and skills they acquire.
We are seeking adjuncts with availability to teach throughout the 2023-2024 academic year, during: Fall 1 Session (9/08/2023 to 12/18/2023), Fall 2 session (1/03/2024 to 2/23/2024), Spring 1 session (3/04/2024 to 6/16/2024), and Spring 2 session (6/20/2024 to 8/08/2024). Additionally, candidates are sought with availability to teach courses in the evenings, on weekends, and in multiple modalities including in-person, hybrid and online.
Adjunct faculty perform teaching and guidance duties related to the courses listed below. Day, evening, and weekend teaching may be required. Online teaching may also be required. The successful candidate will bring expertise in networking, cybersecurity, computer engineering or other fields that reflect qualification for and interest in this position. Moreover, the candidate should feel comfortable teaching a working adult population.
In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to use effective pedagogical and technology-based strategies that enable the success of all students. QUALIFICATIONS
For Adjunct Assistant Professor, Adjunct Associate Professor, or Adjunct Professor:
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required is the ability to teach successfully.
For Adjunct Lecturer:
Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor???s degree, plus six years of relevant industry experience. Experience teaching in a community college and working in cybersecurity.
Demonstrated ability in most of the following:
Teaching students of diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic and educational backgrounds
Active, student-centered pedagogy and significant student mentoring experience
Use of current technology as it supports teaching and learning
COMPENSATION
Adjunct Lecturer: ($91.67 per hour)
Adjunct Assistant Professor: ($100.00 per hour)
Adjunct Associate Professor: ($108.33 per hour)
Adjunct Professor: ($112.50 per hour)
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
