Description:
The Department of Computer Science in the Fred DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science is pleased to invite applications for multiple adjunct positions.
Strong candidates with the expertise and ability to develop and teach courses in all areas of computer science as related to cybersecurity, are encouraged to apply. Industry experience is a plus. Note that this position is in a Computer Science department.
Faculty members are expected to provide sound foundations combined with practical, hands-on projects/experiences.
The Cybersecurity programs are experiencing rapid growth.
The department offers a BS degree in Cybersecurity and Computer Science and MS in Cybersecurity Technology.
The department is housed in the newly constructed Science & Innovation Center which boasts state-of-the-art academic and computing facilities, including a dedicated Cybersecurity laboratory in CV Starr Hall shared with the Zarb School of Business.
Responsibilities:
- Effective teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses as related to cybersecurity - Collaborate with colleagues on course content and assessment.
- Assess and grade student performance accurately and promptly, particularly as related to accreditation efforts.
- Provide feedback, mentorship and guidance to students.
- Stay updated on the latest trends, tools, and technologies in cybersecurity.
Qualifications:
MS in Computer Science or closely related field. Exceptional candidates without a master's degree who have demonstrated sustained industry and leadership track in the field of computing will be considered.
Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in an educational environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Cryptography: candidates should demonstrate in-depth understanding of modern cryptography, including, but not limited to: symmetric and asymmetric ciphers, elliptic-curve cryptography, cryptanalysis, and mathematical backgrounds (e.g., group theory and abstract algebra). Research experience in the following fields is a plus: zero knowledge proof, secure multi-party computation, lattice based cryptography, applications of cryptography such as crypto-currency.
System security: candidates should demonstrate in-depth understanding of system security, including but not limited to: operating system kernel, digital forensics, reverse engineering, attacks and defense at network layer, offensive and defensive operations at the binary/assembly level, file and storage system. The candidate should have hands-on experience with the aforementioned topics, and ideally have experiences with designing or at least participation in non-trivial cybersecurity competitions.
