The Office of Cybersecurity supports the CIO and the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus by leading and managing campus efforts to reduce risk. The Programs and Business Systems Security Team within the Office of Cybersecurity is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer that can assist our current Engineers with supporting the infrastructure of cybersecurity tools that we manage. Examples of tools that we manage are CyberArk, LastPass, OneTrust, Elastic and various network monitoring tools. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of security principles, network structures and access controls. Someone with strong technical skills that also enjoys working with team members to ensure the whole team succeeds will thrive in this position.
The Programs and Business Systems Security (PBSS) team in the Office of Cybersecurity is a team that manages the security for our Business Systems and provides Cybersecurity Awareness Training to the UW-Madison campus. The PBSS team consists of five full-time staff members working on operations and projects that support Cybersecurity tools/services along with enterprise tools. The tools/services that the team currently supports include: network security, Privileged Account Management, Enterprise Password Managers along with an Enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance service. This position may participate on policy drafting and review teams along with working with our communications team to make sure campus is aware of situations related to the tools we support.
The Cybersecurity Engineer reports to the Associate Director for Cybersecurity PBSS, works closely with the other Cybersecurity Engineers and collaborates with the rest of the Cybersecurity team along with the Smart Access team.

Implements and upgrades security systems for the protection of the organization's data, systems, and networks, and instructs on monitoring procedures for these systems. Troubleshoots and resolves issues with cybersecurity services and infrastructure.

The candidate selected for this position may perform a combination of on-site and remote work subject to an approved remote work agreement (RWA) agreement. Remote work requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer. Per University policy, transportation between home and assigned work location is not payable/reimbursable and will be at the expense of the employee.
Appointment Type, Duration:
Minimum $84,800 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications Starting salary will be based on experience and qualifications. Well qualified applicants can expect to earn between $85,000 - $100,000, with final salary based on experience and qualifications.
