Summary of Duties:
As a Data Security Analyst at WSU Information Security Services, your core responsibilities will include:
Enhancing WSU's information security by safeguarding online activities of students, faculty, and staff.
Innovating and implementing processes and technologies to boost the operational security's effectiveness, efficiency, and response time.
Consistently delivering operational security services within established timeframes.
Providing expert technical security consulting and support across the University, collaborating with both central IT Services and departmental IT organizations.
Mitigating technical security risks during the development and implementation of new information systems as part of the Information Security Services Team.
Advising IT Services leadership on information security architecture, including emerging technologies, processes, policies, procedures, and risk mitigation strategies.
This role requires a detail-oriented and innovative individual dedicated to maintaining a secure and efficient operational security environment.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree and three (3) years professional experience OR a combination of education and experience totaling seven (7) years from which comparable knowledge and abilities are acquired.
Working knowledge and experience with information security technologies, implementations, principles, and practices.
Experience in information security incident response and analysis.
Ability to analyze business requirements, assess the value of information technologies, and design information systems to meet business needs.
Knowledge and understanding of security technologies including intrusion detection/prevention systems, firewalls, VPNs, vulnerability scanning, and security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
Experience with security log review, correlation, and analysis.
Demonstrated customer service experience.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience implementing operational information security procedures and technical training materials.
Demonstrated experience with working within formal project management frameworks.
Experience with log SIEM applications, to include developing searches, reports, and other automated routines.
Experience with security reviews of firewall, file system, and other forms of access control lists.
Experience with digital forensics software and processes.
Demonstrated ability to appropriately prioritize multiple tasks, projects, or assignments.
Knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systems.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
