The Security Operations Center (SOC) manager is responsible for the maturation and coordination between The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) departments, The Ohio State University Office of Technology and Digital Innovation (OTDI) and our primary security vendors, creating and maintaining runbooks to assist with event resolutions and maintaining an active, measurable iterative controls validation.
The SOC's primary objective is to ensure that, where possible, security-related activities are appropriately logged, alerted, and directed with the goal of an expedient resolution.
The SOCs secondary objective is to develop, implement and maintain an iterative controls validation based on the MITRE Attack Framework.
As a member of the Data Security management team, this team member will require an elevated level of autonomy and decision-making authority and experience managing a diverse technical team.
Required Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in managing operations-based teams, including:
Policy, organization, and architecture development
Cybersecurity experience
Overall program management and governance
Experience in defining, implementing, and enforcing risk-based standards, processes, and procedures for responding to disruptions in business or IT operations
Proven strategic leadership and relationship management capabilities, including experience with internal stakeholders particularly senior and line of business management, as well as customers, external business partners and third-party service providers
Experience leading and managing high-performance multidisciplinary workgroups or teams to meet goals across multiple projects
Experience in creating and defining new operational models and procedures, and explaining complex problems or situations
Strong oral communication and written communication skills
Familiarity with prioritizing security related issues in a diverse environment.
