Description
Performs information systems support and analysis for a specified function or area within a department and ensures that all concerns are addressed and closed within the prescribed practices and required timeline. This position will be assigned to Metro's Physical Security department and will be responsible for configuring various systems, devices, and software. The role will primarily focus on supporting physical security systems and communication platforms.
Examples of Duties
Performs systems analysis and provides systems support in a specified application area
Develops, oversees, and maintains information systems
Produces various reports for functional areas
Consults with staff from functional areas and users to determine information processing needs and to design/identify specific training programs
Designs technical systems specifications describing information processing functions required by the users
Evaluates and recommends use of commercial software in application area
Provides input to consultants regarding user needs and acceptability of alternatives for development of assigned systems
Coordinates with systems programmers
Evaluates systems to ensure that user requirements are properly satisfied
Troubleshoots, analyzes, and resolves user and systems problems
Monitors system performance and integrity
Designs and implements upgrades to user interface
Communicates system upgrade needs to ITS (Information Technology Services)
Responds to system emergencies
Researches and prepares reports, systems training manuals, and technical systems documentation
Monitors historic data to ensure proper records retention
Participates in the department's information security, disaster recovery, and safety programs

Education
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Experience
One year of relevant experience performing work within a department leading to an understanding of systems for computerization or programming in FOCUS and other user-oriented languages
Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications (PQs) are used to identify relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) as determined by business necessity. The following are the preferred qualifications:
Experience administering and configuring closed-circuit television video management systems, access control, and/or intrusion detection systems and devices
Experience configuring and using closed-circuit television video analytics, including alerts/notifications
Experience performing first-level troubleshooting of information technology systems and devices
Experience connecting and configuring networking devices including routers, Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches, firewalls, and Point-to-Point (P2P) communication systems, ensuring effective network setup, security, and troubleshooting
Experience operating radio communication technologies, including Push-to-Talk (PTT) systems, Radio over Cellular (RoC) solutions, and antenna installation and optimization, ensuring reliable and efficient communication in internal operating networks and public safety networks
Essential Knowledge
