The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting a Corporate Security Specialist to fill a permanent full-time position. This role supports a corporate-wide, comprehensive security program that provides a safe and secure environment for employees and public visitors, while protecting publicly owned assets, including both physical infrastructure and information, from loss, theft, or damage.
The Corporate Security Specialist provides security advice and recommendations, responds to and investigates security incidents, and conducts security risk assessments. The position is responsible for developing corporate security standards and assisting City departments with implementation and compliance. In addition, the role promotes security awareness across the organization and serves as the City’s primary security liaison.
Ideally to fill this role, you will have Certificate in Security Management plus five years’ experience in a corporate security program.
In addition, you will have:
- Eligible for registration in a security or security administration designation (PSP Physical Security Professional, CPP Certified Protection Professional preferred) - Familiarity with CPTED – Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design and other prevention theories - Must have proven technical knowledge of risks and cost-effective delivery of physical security and systems including: Barriers, Hardware, Lock/Key, Protective Lighting, System Design (preferably integrated/multi-site) CCTV, Access Control, Alarm Systems, Duress and Panic Systems – planning, design, procurement and implementation - Prior experience with security and special events planning, threat risk assessment, crowd control management strategies etc. would be considered an asset. - Familiarity with and ability to operate and manage integrated security management systems (preferably Genetec) and incident management systems. - Demonstrated ability to conduct investigations and activities governed by industry practices, and within legal, regulatory and law (criminal) for asset protection, recovery and losses. - Demonstrated ability to strictly maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information. - Demonstrated communication skills – written, verbal, and listening. - Demonstrated report and memo writing abilities, ability to prepare clear, comprehensive and meaningful reports and/or presentations. - Possess excellent interpersonal skills for networking and developing relationships. - Demonstrated ability to influence others in the absence of having a direct line of authority. - Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's License with an acceptable driving record. - Proficiency in the use of computer programs, security software and software such as Microsoft Office
