EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

To qualify for the position, the candidate must obtain high school diploma or equivalent. One year of Healthcare Security strongly preferred.

CONDITIONS:

The new hire or transfer employee will remain within this job category for a probationary period of six months. With a satisfactory criteria based performance evaluation, the employee will advance to a regular status employee. If the evaluation is not satisfactory, the employee will be terminated.

Ability to ensure the confidentiality and rights of patients and confidentiality of health system and departmental documents required

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form with patients, physicians, health system officials, other health system personnel and the general public is essential.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to perform basic math functions.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to prioritize work responsibilities; think and act independently with limited supervision.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

• Must complete certification training in Non-violence Crisis Intervention as scheduled by the Manager, Security, or designee.
• Must complete IAHSS Basic Healthcare Security Training within the first 45 days.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must complete CPR training within the first 45 days of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Works in all areas of hospital, with exposure to combative patients, fluctuating temperatures, and loud noise. Requires walking and standing approximately 70% of the time, requires sitting approximately 30% of the time. Requires handling combative patients, weighing in excess of 100 lbs.; requires pushing, pulling and lifting equipment and supplies weighing up to 100 lbs., approximately 30% of the time. Requires visual acuity and manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases and/or blood and body substances and hazardous materials requiring the observance of Standard Precautions and safe handling practices.
