Job DescriptionThis position exists to create and maintain a safe and secure environment, monitor safety and security concerns, and acts as a primary point of contact for emergency personnel at Minneapolis Community and Technical College buildings and its surrounding property.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Supervise a shift that consists of Student Safety Monitors.Perform scheduled unlock/lock-up of all campus buildings. Schedule may change due to special events or academic breaks. Activate/deactivate intrusion alarms as necessary.Handling and responding to any disturbances and violations of the laws of the state or rules and regulations of the college.Regulate, monitor and patrol all campus parking areas: parking ramp, auxiliary lot, Fine Arts and Kopp Hall loading dock, Technical Building loading dock ramp and area, Wells Center driveways.Ensure all campus-wide emergencies are documented and distribute all related information to appropriate designee.Correct Salary Range:$23.61 - $32.54 hourlyMinimum QualificationsExperience and/or combination of work experience and education in Security, Crime Prevention and/or Peace Officer.Ability to react quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.Ability to Interpret laws, regulations and policies.Knowledge of loss-prevention techniques.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the general public.Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities.Preferred QualificationAbility to train, motivate, and coordinate work effectively with colleagues and team members.Ability to write clear, detailed incident reports and use basic security or reporting software.Experience with two-way radios and communication systems, with an understanding of FCC-compliant practices.Experience working with diverse populations across a range of situations, including high-stress or challenging environments.Other RequirementsMust be able to pass FBI/BCA background check free from convictions and/or misdemeanor violations.Must be able to move through buildings and for long distances.Former and/or current employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College.In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)Monday?Friday: between the hours of 3:30 p.m. ? 11:30 p.m.Saturday: between the hours of 6:00 a.m. ? 6:00 p.m.Occasional daytime shifts as assigned.Application ProcedureInterested Individuals must apply online. Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) is a public two-year college located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. MCTC enrolls nearly 15,000 credit students annually and is an active partner in initiatives designed to strengthen the social, economic and cultural vitality of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Created in 1996, under the umbrella of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) system, MCTC is the result of the merger of two institutions: a technical college with a long history of vocational education dating back to 1914 and an open-enrollment community college established in 1965.
