The Protective Service Supervisor provides daily supervision, ensuring Protective Service Specialists (PSSs) comply with policies, carry out their responsibilities and foster a culture of safety. They are expected to work closely with the on-duty Police Department Sergeant to provide an effective collaborative tiered approach to public safety. This includes scheduling and supervising daily PSS operations; directing and managing the PSS activities; managing personnel time and attendance; disseminating orders, policies and procedures to all assigned personnel; ensuring adherence to policies and procedures and the proper performance of duties by each PSS; reporting violations of policy and procedures; making recommendations regarding the hiring, discipline, and termination of employees; and ordering supplies and equipment when needed. The Supervisor will actively engage with the Security Operations Center, working with UCO partners to achieve the best response for each situation that may arise. Work hours and tasks will vary as assigned by the Security Manager.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Minimum License/Certification:
Must be in possession of a current State of California Security Officer Guard Card from the State of California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) and provide certificates of completion for the full 40 hours of Guard Card training as mandated by BSIS, no later than the beginning of the background investigation phase.

Experience working in the security industry
Experience in supervising, training and evaluating staff

Must possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Previous experience in law enforcement or military
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams)

Demonstrated proficiency in the exercise of sound decision making and defensive tactics
Coordinates with others to ensure adequate coverage for appointments and vacations
Ability to understand and interpret complex policies, procedures, and personnel guidelines and communicate that information to others
Ability to learn and adhere to the University of California and departmental policies and procedures, personnel policies, laws, and requirements
Demonstrated experience in general mediation communication skills, geared toward conflict resolution
Must have the ability to assist in restraining and apprehending combative subjects
