The University of Michigan seeks a creative, innovative, and thoughtful partner to join its Academic Human Resources (AHR) and Equity, Civil Rights, and Title IX Office (ECRT) teams. The inaugural position will report to the Associate Vice Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs/Senior Director of Academic Human Resources. Your primary responsibilities are to review and assess allegations of non-protected class bullying and harassment involving faculty and other academic employees. You may also engage in informal resolution when appropriate.
Regular in-person presence is required minimally 3 days a week at our office in Ann Arbor, Michigan. On occasion, you may need to work outside of traditional working hours, including evenings and weekends.
Review and respond to complaints of bullying and harassment involving faculty and other academic employees.
Conduct investigations, including interviews, gathering evidence, reviewing and analyzing information, and drafting clear and concise investigation reports.
Conduct reviews, climate assessments, and informational conversations to resolve matters as appropriate.
Culture Assessment
Review faculty/student/staff feedback from a variety of historical and current climate surveys.
Meet with stakeholders to understand workplace experiences in their department.
Education and Training
Provide consultation on matters related to workplace bullying and harassment to individuals, departments, and units on campus and at Michigan Medicine.
Collaborate with appropriate unit stakeholders to understand needs and develop and deliver related training to individuals and groups.
Communication and Collaboration
Communicate and collaborate with campus partners, affected parties, and other stakeholders in addressing concerns of bullying and harassment through consultations, written documentation, and via other communication methods.
Administrative Duties
Maintain complete and accurate files and records, including documentation in our case management system.
Advanced degree (e.g., JD, MBA) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
4+ years experience with effectively investigating, responding to, and analyzing all forms of employee relations and/or workplace harassment.
Knowledge of discrimination and harassment laws.
Experience providing consulting, educational programming, and identifying resources to promote a welcoming, supportive, inclusive environment free from discrimination and harassment.
Demonstrated excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Competence using Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Adobe, Dropbox, and Case Management Systems.
